Scaling Work+ at ASU

Work+Learn
Students having a meeting

Project Summary

Arizona State University employs over 12,000 student workers each year, offering valuable opportunities for students to gain real-world experience and develop essential career skills. Through the Work+ initiative, ASU is reimagining student employment as an integrated and accessible learning experience that directly supports student success and career readiness.

The goal of this project is to scale the Work+ model across the entire institution—ensuring every student employee benefits from a meaningful, purpose-driven work experience before graduation.

Work+ will lead this transformation by:

  • Operationalizing a campus-wide commitment to a student employment model rooted in learning and career development
  • Reevaluating policies and practices that influence how student employment is structured and supported
  • Embedding the Work+ framework into every student employment role through consistent tools, resources, and guidance for supervisors

By equipping departments and supervisors across ASU with tailored support, Work+ ensures that each student job is intentionally designed to meet the university’s high standards for student development.

All student employment experiences at ASU will aim to:

  • Increase students’ career readiness
  • Strengthen relationships between supervisors and student employees
  • Help students connect their job experiences to transferable skills and post-graduation goals

ASU’s commitment to Work+ reflects a bold vision: student employment as a high-impact experience that prepares students for life beyond college.
