Projects posted in the ASU Student Employment Project Portal cover a wide range of subjects and skills. Past examples include building interactive data dashboards, assisting with data entry, and supporting campus events.

  • General projects General projects are entry-level and do not require any particular expertise. General projects may involve work such as creating transcripts or giving feedback.
  • Specialized projects Specialized projects require expertise in a particular field and may involve work such as coding or data analysis.

Eligibility

Who can participate:

  • All current ASU students enrolled in at least 1 credit hour

     

  • Students with a valid Social Security Number (SSN) and bank account

  • The project hours should be included in the total numbers of hours worked if a student has an ASU Student Employment job. It is up to the student to track how many hours a week they are working and remain within their allowable hours.

Project Details

The portal allows ASU students to apply to short-term, skill-building projects posted by departments, earning income while gaining practical experiences relevant to their studies and future careers.

Any ASU student enrolled for at least one credit hour may apply for open projects. Some positions may require specific experience or coursework, depending on the project description.

You will receive project details and timelines during onboarding, via email or through the portal. Expectations and deliverables will be clearly outlined before you begin.

Upon the Supervisor’s approval of your deliverables at the end of the project. Payment is processed quickly through Riipen after departmental confirmation and is paid out using direct deposit to your bank account.

Communication typically occurs through the platform, email, and Slack channel.

Yes, upon completion and after payment is processed, you will receive an automated badge from Riipen if you get positive feedback from the department. 

Yes, Social Security Numbers are required to participate in the project portal.

Most Fall semester projects run from mid-September through early December. Specific timelines are provided during onboarding and in project communications.
