Applying to ASU as an Exploratory Student

Students who have not decided on a major in college, or are not ready to decide, may apply to ASU as an exploratory student if you have less than 45 college credit hours earned. Students with 45 or more college credit hours earned must declare a major other than exploratory. If you have 45 or more credit hours or are close to 45 hours, you may want to meet with a transfer advisor for information about degree programs at ASU.

Students who know the major you wish to declare may also wish to contact an academic advisor in that department. Please utilize the ASU Academic Advising Directory to locate the appropriate departmental advisor.

If you have less than 45 credit hours and wish to apply to ASU as an exploratory student, you will need to choose one of four exploratory major tracks, which are all housed in University College:

Exploratory—Engineering, Math, Technology & Physical Sciences

Exploratory—Fine Arts/Humanities/Design

Exploratory—Health & Life Sciences

Exploratory—Social/Behavioral Sciences

More information on each of these programs can be found at: https://webapp.asu.edu/eadvisor/app.
