The following Web site is designed for University College Exploratory students whose GPA is below Academic Good Standing. In no way is all the information presented here intended as a substitute for academic advising. Rather, this site is intended as a resource for any student wishing to improve their academic performance.
Any Exploratory student with a GPA below Academic Good Standing is placed on probation and must complete the following homework assignment in order to be cleared for registration.
No student wants to earn bad grades! But, bad grades still happen and can result in a student being placed on Academic Probation. There are many reasons students don’t earn the grades they are capable of earning—not being adequately prepared for the course, lack of test preparation, didn’t do homework assignments—it is likely you have an explanation as well. However, if you find you are on Academic Probation there are steps you need to take to continue your studies at ASU.
Step 1—Complete Probation Homework
Any Exploratory student on probation is required to complete this online
homework assignment before you will be allowed to register or make any
changes to your class schedule. This homework provides you with important
information about your academic status at ASU.
Upon successfully completing the homework assignment, an academic advisor will ensure you receive advising clearance for the appropriate semester(s). (Visit ASU Interactive to check your registration eligibility and to see if you have been cleared for a particular semester.)
Step 2—Maintain a Satisfactory GPA
There is no limit to the number of semesters you may continue at ASU while
on academic probation as long as you experience no break in attendance
and maintain a satisfactory semester GPA. The minimum semester GPA required
for you to continue at ASU while on probation is as follows:
| Hours | Minimum Semester GPA |
| 24 or fewer | 1.60 |
| 25 – 55 | 1.75 |
| 56 – 86 | 2.00 |
Step 3—Meet with an Academic Advisor
It is recommended that you meet with an academic advisor face-to-face so
that we can work with you individually to get you back on track. To schedule
an appointment, please call:
