The primary focus for University College Academic Advising is to provide academic advising for students in one of four exploratory major tracks. University College Academic Advising also provides assistance for all students seeking information regarding ASU major and career options.

The mission of University College Academic Advising is to promote student development and success by helping students to identify, clarify, and achieve their academic goals. Through individualized professional advising and teaching practices, University College academic advisors challenge and support students in their process of becoming self-directed lifelong learners.

All exploratory students are required to choose one of four major tracks. Major maps for these four exploratory major tracks are available to provide information regarding appropriate classes, potential majors, etc.

First-time freshmen students in an exploratory major track are assigned to a professional academic advisor in University College on their respective ASU campus. Academic advisor assignments will be made based on exploratory student enrollment in their required ASU 101 and UNI 194 classes during the initial fall semester. Students in the exploratory major tracks are also encouraged to participate in our Residential Communities on the Downtown campus, Tempe campus, and West campus. Visit the Explorers Residential Communities Web page for more details on activities and information.

Transfer students entering ASU in an exploratory major track will receive their assigned academic advisor upon scheduling their initial advising appointment.
